Ordered Steps Learning Center is a Reggio Emilia–inspired early education center in Stamford, CT, welcoming children from 18 months to 5 years old. We guide children from toddlerhood to kindergarten readiness through structured, play-based learning in a nurturing and engaging environment.

Director

We’re seeking an inspiring, strategic leader to oversee all aspects of OSLC’s operations—educational quality, staff development, day-to-day management, safety, enrollment, and community engagement. This role ensures that our holistic academic and social–emotional standards flourish within a warm, structured, play-based learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor teaching staff and admin team, fostering growth and adherence to Reggio Emilia and FunShine Express philosophies.

Oversee curriculum implementation, developmental assessments, and enrichment activities.

Ensure compliance with licensing and safety protocols, including health guidelines and secure entry measures.

Manage enrollment, parent communication, tours, and relationship-building.

Coordinate scheduling, staff hiring, evaluations, and professional development.

Manage budgets, procurement, facility maintenance, and daily operations.

Establish and maintain strong community partnerships and outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Early Childhood Education, Education Management, or related field.

At least 5 years of leadership experience in early learning or childcare.

Deep knowledge of Reggio Emilia, FunShine Express, and play-based curricula.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Familiarity with licensing regulations, safety protocols, and early childhood pedagogy.

Passion for nurturing a safe, inclusive, academically enriching environment.

Lead Teacher

As Lead Teacher, you'll be the cornerstone of classroom excellence—designing and delivering developmentally appropriate lessons, guiding children aged 18 months to 5 years through early literacy, math, play, and social–emotional growth within small, engaging class settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement learning experiences across literacy, numeracy, creative arts, sensory play, and social–emotional development.

Leverage Reggio Emilia and FunShine Express frameworks; support kindergarten readiness.

Monitor children’s progress via assessments and developmental milestone tracking.

Maintain a safe, clean, structured classroom while following OSLC health/safety protocols.

Communicate routinely with parents, sharing updates, photos, and progress reports.

Supervise and collaborate with Teacher’s Assistants and support staff.

Participate in enrichment outings and creative projects that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; valid CT early childhood teaching certification/licensure favored.

Minimum 2–3 years of early childhood teaching experience.

Strong understanding of Reggio Emilia philosophy, FunShine Express curriculum, and kindergarten prep strategies.

Excellent child engagement, classroom management, and communication skills.

First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Teacher’s Assistant

As a Teacher’s Assistant, you’ll support classroom operations for 18‑month to 5-year-old groups—assisting with activity facilitation, child supervision, and creating a nurturing, safe learning environment under the direction of the Lead Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in delivering daily learning and play-based activities.

Support individual children with developmental needs, social–emotional growth, and self-care tasks.

Help maintain cleanliness, classroom order, and health safety standards.

Monitor children during indoor and outdoor routines—including meals, nap time, and hygiene.

Support the Lead Teacher in documentation, assessment, and lesson prep.

Communicate with parents when appropriate; contribute to a warm, inclusive classroom.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; training in Early Childhood Education or relevant coursework preferred.

Experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare environment.

Knowledge of child development and behavior management strategies.

CPR/First Aid certification a plus.

Dependable, nurturing, and team-oriented.

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant ensures smooth front-office operations, from managing inquiries and tours to recordkeeping and parent communications—playing a vital role in sustaining OSLC’s welcoming and organized atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet families, answer calls and emails, and coordinate tour scheduling.

Process enrollments, maintain accurate child and family records, and track turnover and attendance.

Handle invoicing, billing, collection of fees, and financial communications in partnership with leadership.

Support digital communications—newsletters, updates, announcements.

Maintain the center’s safety and cleanliness standards.

Assist with supply orders, scheduling, and general office tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Administrative experience preferred; background in education or childcare a plus.

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with scheduling, record management, and billing software.

Attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to multitask.
